Highlights of the week

Cooee,

For the last two weeks, I haven't being wearing any blusher but instead wearing highlighter. I didn't think that it would make any difference to my makeup but I have been given a couple of compliments about how nice my makeup is. I think that this is due to my highlight ( as its only product different in my everyday makeup routine) so I thought that I would show you some of my most loved highlights.

Nars Copacabana

I can not recommend this enough. It has a hint of pink and silver which works well with my peachy pink skin tone. It can be used all over the face , however, I only use it on the tops of my cheeks. I would call it a light highlight but you only need the tiniest amount because it is a liquid and highly pigmented. The price for this is £23 , this is the most expensive out of the three.

Rimmel Good to Glow- 003 Soho

There are three different highlights in the range but I have the shade . It's not as pigmented as the Nars but the formula and the idea that you only need the smallest amount, it's a dupe for it. I would say that my shade is more rose gold which is very different from my other highlights. If you were looking for a highlight for a bronze Makeup look , then this highlight would be perfect. It's a great drugstore alternative.

Sleek Face Palette

This is different from the Rimmel and the Nars because it is a powder highlight. It's apart of the palette and works well with the blush which also can be used as a highlight. The highlight has light cream and gold tones running through it. This is very light on the skin but is build able. It's not my favourite but I love it as a universal highlight as it also works well as a eyebrow highlight.

These are my highlight favourites which I have been loving recently. I do have other highlights however I don't really use them as much as these three.

Let me know if you use highlighters and what ones you have been loving as I am always looking to try new products.

Melon Pop| Review

Cooee,

So when I found out that Clinique were releasing new lipsticks I was more than excited. I have been looking for a new brand to try for lipsticks and this was the perfect chance.

I have the shade Melon Pop 05. I thought I would review it as I know lots of people have been talking about the new release.

First Thoughts

Packaging?

I love the packaging- its simple which I like as it doesn't take away the beautiful colour. Also I love that it is square too as it fits perfectly in my lipstick holder.

Price?

I got mine for £16 which I think it ok for what it is. Personally, I was prepared to price a bit extra as I knew it was the right colour I wanted. But MUA ( which can be found in Superdrug) do a lipstick called Peachy Keen for £1 which is similar but is a matte rather than a sheen.

Colour?

The colour is a peach-y , coral  colour which I have been looking for. Its a sheen but has amazing pigment.

First Impressions

True Colour?

Yes, I would say that its the colour which I thought it would be. I think it a great everyday shade but  its very buildable so can be made into a matte looking lipstick.

Finish?

Like I have said previously, its a sheen which makes the colour have a shiny to it. I like this as I don't really own a sheer looking lipstick which I could wear everyday. I have been wearing it with day and night makeup so its a multi use lipstick. Oh and it looks great over Rimmel London East end Snob lip liner.

The rest of the range?

The Clinique team (not that I know them!) have done a great job with the colour choice , however, when looking for Melon Pop , I found out that they haven't released all the colours so I would double check if you can which ones are available. But I would be more than happy to buy additional shades after buying this one

Let me know if you want or have any of the colour pop range and what you think of it

Fashion Haul | Bohemian Style Inspired

Cooee,

So I have been doing little shopping trips so all the products I'm going to show you some of the bits I have been buying- it has not been brought all at the same time.

I have really been loving the Boho Style so I have been collecting the bits and bits for my summer wardrobe.

Lets Start...

Primark has some really nice pieces in at the moment so I would go and check it out if you have the chance. I got this beautiful playsuit for only £10! It has a small slit along the centre of the neckline as well as embroidered detail on the neck and chest. Also it has trimming along the arm holes and pockets.

Also from Primark, this dress which I believe was £5.  The material is silky has some stretch to it so its a comfortable wear. I would personally wear this as a day dress.

Topshop is really loving the 70s at the moment and have some lovely statement pieces. I got this shirt which is very sheer however it has the same neck line as the playsuit as well as small tassels around the bat wing sleeves.

Also I got a skort in the sale for £5!! I love the print and the blue/cream combination. It a way to introduce pattern and print into a look without it being overpowering.

H&M at the moment has my fashion heart. It has a mixture of all the trends without the designer price tag. The shorts have a suede texture to them. They are quite short on my legs so I would wear them with flat shoes. The top is from the H&M Coachella range so I don't know if its still I stores but I have seen some similar. Its a crop top and it has small panels of see through flowers. It has a tie neckline and on the end of the sleeves and body, it has elastic.

Boohoo is the best online shop for me as I know what material they use so I know my size I am. I should really have a look at the other shops but I'm scared to be honest. But I got this shorts which are high waisted. They do have pockets but this make the shorts mis-shaped.

Next is this dress , its in a similar style to the Primark one however its a different material. I love the print and the mix of greens and purples.

So that's some of the bits that I have been buying for my summer wardrobe, let me know what trends you have been loving.

Drug Store Haul

Cooee,

So usually I would be writing my favourites for the month but I haven't been loving anything especially this month. But I have been shopping so I thought I would do a haul of the bits I got makeup wise.

So lets start...

From Boots, I got two lipsticks from the Seventeen range. I never have really gone to the Seventeen counter but there was a sale on the items. So the first lipstick is Stay Pout in the shade Date Night. Its a classic red telephone box shade.  I would say its a buildable matte so it can be a sheen at first. The only thing is the packaging, at the top of lid there is a fake gem. It makes the whole thing look tacky in a way.

The another lipstick is from the same range and its the shade Rule Breaker. Again the formula is the same , the shade is a dark red with a purple under tone. The packaging is the same again.

Another product is from the brand , Seventeen and its the Stay Time Pressed Powder. I haven't tried it but I got it to throw in my hand bag. Again with the packaging it has no mirror and saldy I didn't know this before hand! Come on Seventeen! Sort your packaging out!!

From NYX , I got Iced Mocha and I got it as its meant to be a dupe of MAC Satin Taupe so I'm excited to try it out. It looks like a good everyday shade that I could just sweep over the whole lid.

So that's everything drug store but I have recently got some high end but I haven't got enough it write if that makes sense.

Let me know any high end dupes as I'm looking for them.

I'm Back and with my Over Night a Bag

Cooee,

So I back from my exams and I'm on a school break. When studying , I decided to go and stay at my Nan's as she has no internet or signal so it would mean that I would have no disattractions. While I was there I packed a small essentials only in my overnight bag. I will be showing the products I took with me.

Before we start, I didn't need a tooth brush or face wash as I already had these at my Nan's.

So I managed to fit everything in to this small Ted Baker bag which I got from Boots Sale last month. I don't know if they still do this print but I know they still do the same sized bag in a floral print.

Firstly, I took my cleansing lotion by Nivea. If you have been reading my blog from the start , then you would know that I have been using this product a long time. I love it,  it's so refreshing on my skin and makes my skin feel so clean.

I had to downsize this product because otherwise it wouldn't have fit in my bag. It's the Body Shop's Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner. I have been testing this range out for a while so I can write a review. But I needed a skin clearing product due to my stressed skin.

Even though the packaging is glass, it's not heavy nor did it break. It's the Benefit Triple Performing Moisturiser. It's a light moisturiser so it's a good day night rather than a night time one.

For the night time, it's the body shop Tea Tree Blemish Face Night Lotion. It's cooling on the skin and helps unders skin spots. I took this with me as it's the perfect size and I needed a night lotion. Also I took a direct spot treatment. It's the Boots witch hazel blemish stick. It's cheaper than the other brands and it works just as well. I would recommend Boots own brand straight away to anyone who is looking to try something new.

I have been getting sore eyes and lips recently so I have been using Simple eye soothing balm and Superdrug's Lip and Cold Sore Cream. The lip cream is the BEST treatment for lips I have ever come across.

Sudocrem is my go to product when my skin is sore or in need of a deep treatment. I use it on angry blemishes.

So that the essential products which I took with me in my over night bag. Hope your exams are going okay if you have or had any.

Good Luck with your exams , if you have exams coming up.

Cooee,

So the idea behind this title is that its a makeup look which requires more base if concealer or foundation. I was having a semi good skin day and I didn't want to use foundation when I didn't need it. Firstly I would like to say sorry for the quality of light in this photo. I relying on sun light. Also I did blend my bronzer properly after I took this picture, sorry!

Pretty in Pink

Cooee,

So I have been loving a pink eye. I never thought I would say that but there it is. I am going to show you a couple of shades I have been loving. Now before I start, the majority is high end but I have added a high street brand in there.

MAC Quarry

This is a muted pink which works well in the crease as well as all over the lid. Its probably my perfect shade as its quite dark and works well with my everyday brown eye shadow.

MAC Girlie

I was recommended this by the MAC makeup artist. AS it says in the name, its quite girlie , however, its light on the light and works well with blue/green eyes.

MAC Grain

Its a light creamy pink colour. Its a great highlight colour plus it brightens up the eye.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo

This is like girlie in a creamy shadow, however, it has flecks of gold in it. I wore this for my prom and I loved it then and  I  love it now.  *PROM POST*

So there are a couple of pink shades I have been loving.

Revision Tips

Cooee,

So it exam season for many people including myself (A Levels) and I thought that I would do a list of revision tips which I have found work for me as well as my friends. Just to mention that theres no one way to revise as many methods work for different people and that no different from me and my friends. For myself, I have to read everything over and over again , making important notes if necessary, however, for my friend Zoe, she makes multiple mindmaps of information.

So here are a collection of different tips for different types of learners;

1) Plan your time effectively.

I have on my wall a two month revision plan. Yes! this is mentally but I know from my GCSEs that this helped me make sure that I knew what to revision and when all my exams were.

2) Don't revise for two long.

2 hours max revising time with an half an hour to an hour breaks in-between. This allows your brain to have a cooling off period. Also 15 minutes per unit/topic is also good too.

2a) Add exercise into your breaks

It helps take your mind off worrying and if you have been revising all day, it will be an effective way to get rid of energy (in a good way).

2b) Drink lots of water.

Remember your health shouldn't suffer because your revising. Water is a good way to keep yourself hydrated.

3) Collect all your notes ready for revising.

By doing this you aren't worrying that you are wasting time looking for your notes or textbooks.

4) Mind maps. (Visual Leaner)

After specking to my friend, mind maps are a good way to put all the important information in one place.

4a) Colour Code (Visual Learner)

When your in the exam, you will remember the colour and then the information along with it.

5) Podcasts ( Auditory Learner)

For my science GCSEs, I found a collection of podcasts which were people teaching you science. They were free to download and I would listen to them on my way to school. *LINK*

6) Notes (A practice Learner/ Visual Leaner)

A couple of my friends learn by re writing notes or typing them up. Personally for me this doesn't work but I know that for some people it might. By re writing notes, it means that you are recapping everything.

7) Past Papers/ Questions

By finding these, you can see how the exam or test will be laid out meaning that you have a better understanding. Also you can practice papers and check the mark schemes. TOP TIP- exam boards usually re word past questions.

8) Don't panic.

I should follow this one. Don't worry, I know that everyone is going on about how important it is , which it is but remember you can only do your best and it is good enough.

I hope that some of these help you if your taking your exams.

Good Luck,

Gee x
